Something Borrowed

This is a schedule post. By now I should be somewhere in Vietnam.

I recently read a book titled ‘Something Borrowed’ by Emily Griffin.

*Disclaimer: If you are that kind of people who do want to check out the book, but doesn’t want to know the story and ending yet, please just skip this post. It is a very good book.

Ok the plot summary.

The novel centers around the protagonist and narrator, Rachel White, a thirty-year-old single woman who is a consummate good-girl. She and Darcy Rhone have been best friends since childhood, and hard-working Rachel is often in the shadow of flashy, sometimes selfish Darcy. Then, after a night of drinking on Rachel’s thirtieth birthday, she sleeps with Darcy’s fiance, Dex. After this turns into an affair, Rachel explores the meaning of friendship, true love, and ethics.

Source from Wikipedia.

So after you got the idea of the story, let me further elaborate, as I feel that the summary given was a little too simple. So Rachel slept with Dex, and continued the affair for quite a few months and Dex finally found out that he actually loves Rachel not Darcy. Though at the end, Darcy was found to be sleeping and pregnant with Marcus, Dex’s good friend and a guy who Rachel is kinda dating.

So my question is, let’s assume Darcy wasn’t cheating on Dex, should Dex call off the wedding(he did at the end, by the way), and be together with Rachel, or should Darcy continue marrying Darcy and ditch Rachel, as that may be the ‘right’ thing to do.

There’s obviously many things to consider of and many angle to think from. But if I were Darcy, and my fiancĂ© who I love dearly was cheating on me with my best friend(!), I’d be deeply hurt and obviously very angry. But I still do love that man. Very complicated question, my mind is blur of what I’d actually do now.

Just wanna know what you think and what you will do.

And please do check out the book. And the movie too. It stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel, Kate Hudson as Darcy, Colin Egglesfield(*swoons*) as Dex and John Krasinski as Ethan. I admit I did fell asleep watching the movie, but in my defense, I was really tired that day but I fully intend to watch it again.

Next scheduled post should be up on Saturday.

Bought the sequel to this book named ‘Something Blue’ and brought it to Vietnam with me to read!

Just a random thought. I was at a departmental store in KL with the fam and were just casually browsing the kids department. There was a Burberry standalone alone store that sells only and only kids’ clothes and accessories. Kids as young as months old can get their Burberry fix there. A little further inside the store, there were Armani, Gaultier, Marc Jacobs and a few other more, all for kids.

I am very lucky to be able to own a few branded item that I prize and cherish, but I think babies and toddlers wearing hundreds dollars worth of clothing is a little too much?

What’s your thought?

It Will Rain

Hi. It is now day 5(?) of Project 365. Again. So far so good.

Date: 18th Nov 2011
Realised that I’ve never posted a close up shot of my face in this blog? Or have I? Oh well, at least not recently. This is how I look like, hair up, fringe up, when I’m just casually chillin’, not outdoor.

Another obligatory frown-y eyebrows shot! Hahahahahahha

Went out this morning to watch the first part of Twilight: Breaking Dawn. Pretty good movie I should say. So so so much better than the 2nd and 3rd, albeit the gory childbirth scene, although that made me cry. How Bella as a mother would suffer for the existence of her baby, that was really touching. I’m relatively sentimental, love stories rarely makes me cry. I cry when there parent-child sad storyline involved, or if it involves animals.

“It Will Rain” by Bruno Mars was featured in the movie. Good song, Bruno Mars is awesome in general.
